We’re Relocating…Now What Do We Do?

Whether your business is relocating to Santa Clarita, or from Santa Clarita to a different destination in California or the United States, count on Camelot Moving & Storage to provide professional  commercial relocation services that are a cut above. Many of our clients find themselves asking, “We’re relocating…now what do we do?” Here are several tips for making your business relocation hassle-free.

Downsize (Your stuff, that is)

One of the best ways to streamline your relocation process is to relieve yourself of the nonessentials. Start by going through your filing cabinets, pulling out obsolete files, and shredding them. There are mobile shredding services in Santa Clarita that will send a truck over when you’re ready. Next, review your office’s printers, copiers, fax machines, etc., and determine whether you can get by with less of these items in your new office. If you can, and you leased these items, just return them. If not, donate the equipment and leverage it as a tax write-off, or sell it to a company that specializes in used tech equipment.

Clean Out Your Storage Area

Depending on the size of your business, you either have a storage room or a large storage area in your building’s basement where bygone items are located: old furniture, outdated computer monitors, easels, phones, you name it. No sense in bringing these relics with you to your new location, so do the same thing as suggested in the section above: donate them or sell them to a used-tech firm or a used furniture retailer. If you have files or other items that needed to be stored, we also offer secure long-term and short-term storage options.

Forward Thinking

The better your pre-move game plan, the easier your relocation will go. Design a floor plan for your new location and mark it up regarding who/what goes where. Then take this floor plan and apply it to the actual space by using signage. Your movers will know exactly what goes where. And speaking of the movers, be sure to establish a single point of contact on moving day—a person that knows the floor plan like the back of their hand and is the go-to onsite contact for any issues.

Trust Your Movers

After you’ve received onsite estimates for your relocation and have selected a mover, listen to and apply any suggestions the moving company provides regarding how items are packed, loaded, and moved. This is especially true for large and/or expensive items. Allowing your mover to “exercise their expertise” will reduce your time and monetary expense, freeing you up to focus on other business-related matters.

If your company is planning a move to or from Santa Clarita or Southern California, contact Camelot Moving & Storage and take advantage of our top-quality relocation services.
