How to Choose Packing Supplies
Packing—gathering your smaller belongings into boxes in preparation for Moving Day—is an essential part in prepping for any move. (Packing does not refer to loading the moving van or storage vault; your expert moving crew will handle that!) If you take advantage of Camelot’s packing services, your Camelot packing crew will bring the moving supplies and boxes with them. You won’t need to worry about finding, selecting, or transporting any packing supplies.
However, if you opt to pack up some or all of your home yourself—a great option to lower your moving bill—our moving supplies store is fully equipped with every item you’ll need, and our experienced office staff is available to help you decide the size, type, and quantity of boxes and packing material you’ll need to pack up your home. They will also give you advice on how to best pack and protect dinnerware and glassware and other fragile items, such as your television and desktop computer. Read through our blog for more helpful tips on packing and check out our video tutorials.
Why It Is Important to Choose the Right Packing Materials
While we at Camelot encourage the re-use and recycling of moving supplies and boxes (call our office to inquire about our current availability of used packing supplies), keep in mind that any box has a limited lifetime before its structure will begin to give out. Typically, two to three moves will be a box’s limit. Avoid using boxes not originally designed for moving, especially any boxes ever used for food. You might find that they bring a few extra unwelcome housemates!
Additionally, moving supplies and boxes typically come in conventional industry measurements designed to match the depth of furniture—such as dressers, cabinet drawers, and hutches—so that the furniture and drawer contents easily fit inside the box, speeding up the process of packing. And standard size boxes stack easily upon each other, allowing your moving crew to load them quickly and efficiently onto the moving van.
Choosing the right packing materials will pay off in the long run! Consider our moving supplies store a one-stop-shop for all your moving needs. Get in touch with us today so that we can discuss your next move and find out exactly what you need.
